'People are afraid' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the team to beat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal have become many people's favorites to claim the Premier League during this term.

Consider their outcomes against Fulham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those equivalent matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have overcome all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Defensive Dominance

Arsenal's backline resilience is a crucial element why they are looking well positioned to ultimately achieve their title ambition.

They lead the league for shutouts (6), goals conceded (3), shots faced (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and xGA (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the finest in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Excellence

Their danger from dead balls is highly documented, but rival sides still don't know how to contain the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just wary of them and it is wonderful to see."

Title Claims

What is even more impressive about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City on home turf - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they keep winning, their traditional rivals face difficulties. This marks the first time at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the outset, having invested around £250m on eight summer signings in pursuit of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far paid off in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and boasting the strongest defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Shutouts in three straight Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without allowing a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and pundits have labeled Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now performing with confidence and resolve.
