Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
